Abstract

The simulated solar photovoltaic (PV) system is located in Baghdad at coordinates 33.33o N and 44.44(o) E. The current system is a 10 kWp on-grid polycrystalline photovoltaic solar system. The current system is simulated for a full year under the Iraq-Baghdad climate. Throughout the year, the solar modules have a tilt angle of 30(o), and the orientation angle (azimuth angle) is zero. In addition to atmospheric variables such as temperature and solar radiation, all electrical parameters of the solar system are investigated. The effect of atmospheric factors on solar PV system production is considered. The accuracy of the present simulation model (Solar-Pro) is also verified by comparing it with a real photovoltaic solar system. The annual values of alternating current energy (AC) and direct current energy (DC) are 16 MWh and 17 MWh, respectively. The average accuracy of the Solar-Pro is 97%. The annual values for specific PV energy and specific AC energy are 1666.17kWh/kWp and 1574.53kWh/kWp, respectively. The annual average values for the system output coefficient (performance ratio), capacity factor, conversion efficiency, PV temperature, and air temperature are 70.07%, 17.98%, 9.62% (nominal efficiency is 13%), 35.08 (o)C, and 22.49 (o)C, respectively.
