Abstract

Boron is an essential micronutrient for normal plant growth. The main objective of this study was the development of a colorimetric kit for the in situ determination of the concentration of boron in irrigation water with a colorimetric scale. Said scale was compared with a boron calibration curve based on the reaction with azomethine-H. The calibration curve of the spectrophotometric method presented a correlation coefficient of 0.998, the detection limit and the quantification limits of the method were 0.1232 and 0.1605 mg/L respectively. It was therefore concluded that the colorimetric kit has potential for the determination of boron in situ in irrigation water.
